Pat McAfee Reportedly Opted Out, WWE Backlash Tag Match Scrapped
Dave Meltzer claims Pat McAfee “legitimately wanted out” of the wrestling business, a decision that reportedly prompted WWE to cancel a planned tag team match for next month’s Backlash. The sudden change forced creative to alter the event’s card on short notice.
McAfee’s apparent decision to step away has left his immediate future with WWE in question and led to last-minute reshuffling of storylines heading into Backlash. Promoters are said to be adjusting plans as they finalize the pay-per-view lineup.
