Pat McAfee Trolls Fans at WWE World, Mentions AEW Ahead of WrestleMania 42
At WWE World during WrestleMania weekend a screen teased a “huge surprise,” only for the countdown to reveal Pat McAfee’s show — where he mocked the crowd as “dumb marks” for expecting an AEW crossover and taunted them from afar, saying he’d be in Las Vegas by SmackDown. McAfee’s prank escalated the build to WrestleMania after he returned to TV playing a heel and openly ridiculing fans who hoped for a major surprise.
McAfee, now aligned with Randy Orton, has promised to “save the business” and will be at ringside for Orton’s WrestleMania 42 night one challenge against Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship; he even vowed to leave WWE forever if Orton doesn’t win. Despite fan backlash, Triple H defended the move as positive publicity for WrestleMania.
