Shawn Michaels Asked for Trick Williams to Stay in NXT to Develop Heel Role, Triple H Reveals
Paul “Triple H” Levesque and NXT head Shawn Michaels discussed Trick Williams during a recent Variety sit-down, with Levesque recounting a conversation in which Williams expressed gratitude for his opportunities. Michaels confirmed he had requested that Williams remain in NXT so he could work on developing a heel role before moving full-time to the main roster.
Although Williams is now a member of the SmackDown roster, Michaels said the decision to keep him in NXT was intentional, aimed at refining his character and preparing him for a stronger impact on television. The exchange underscores WWE’s continued use of NXT as a place to shape personas before major promotions.
