Shawn Michaels Cites Undertaker’s AAA Duties for Absence as Kevin Owens, Natalya Join WWE LFG Season 3

Shawn Michaels revealed on the season three premiere of WWE Legends & Future Greats that The Undertaker’s increased responsibilities with Lucha Libre AAA contributed to his absence from the show, with Kevin Owens and Natalya stepping in as coaches. The Undertaker served as head coach for the first two seasons, mentoring talents such as Shiloh Hill and Tyra Mae Steele; Hill moved to NXT in December 2025 while Steele was among recent WWE releases. Since WWE’s acquisition of AAA in 2025, The Undertaker has played a major role in booking, mentoring and creative direction for the promotion.

Kevin Owens, recovering from neck surgeries that cost him a planned WrestleMania match with Randy Orton, took on the LFG role as he works toward returning to in-ring competition and admitted he was “losing his mind” while sidelined. Owens was seen training at the Performance Center late in 2025 but has not been cleared to return to the active roster; Michaels also announced a format change for LFG that allows talents to be called up to NXT to smooth the transition.
