The Miz says The Rock praised his WrestleMania 27 impersonation

Speaking on Games with Names, The Miz recalled the now-famous March 14, 2011 WWE Raw segment in which he dressed and performed as The Rock in the build to WrestleMania 27. Miz admitted he doubted the bit — noting differences in height, build and appearance — but credited Vince McMahon’s direction and the crowd’s reaction as the skit played out, culminating in a heel turn as fans realized it was him, a takedown of John Cena and a cutting promo that set the stage for WrestleMania.

Miz revealed he flew back to Los Angeles that night and received a voicemail from The Rock praising the performance, saying, “That’s how you do it. That’s how you step up to the plate and hit a home run.” At WrestleMania 27, The Miz retained the WWE Championship by defeating Cena after interference from The Rock.
