Will Ospreay Files Trademark for “United Empire”
Will Ospreay filed to trademark the name “United Empire” on April 10, seeking protection for merchandising and wrestling-related services. The application covers apparel items such as shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, hats, bandanas and socks, as well as entertainment services including wrestling exhibits, televised and live appearances, online interviews and wrestling news distribution.
Ospreay — no longer a full-time NJPW talent but expected to return to Japan more often following neck surgery — founded United Empire in NJPW and the faction has already crossed into AEW, with Callum Newman, HENARE and Francesco Akira assisting Ospreay against the Death Riders. Newman, 23, recently defeated Yota Tsuji to become the youngest IWGP Heavyweight Champion, a development that could set up an eventual split and title feud with Ospreay.
