WWE extends Paul Levesque’s creative role as Khan urges staff to ignore social media backlash

WWE confirmed at a company town hall that Paul Levesque’s contract as Head of Creative has been extended in a multi-year deal, tamping down speculation about his future. WWE President Nick Khan characterized much of the online criticism as a “vocal minority,” citing past backlash to Roman Reigns, Bad Bunny, The Rock, John Cena and CM Punk as examples while stressing the importance of open dialogue between himself, Levesque and the creative team.

Tonight’s Raw from Laredo, Texas, will feature Bayley & Lyra Valkyria vs. Raquel Rodriguez & Roxanne Perez and Penta vs. Rusev for the Intercontinental Championship, with Roman Reigns expected to respond to Jacob Fatu about a potential Backlash main event and Seth Rollins also advertised. WWE reported 8,246 tickets out—nearly a sellout—and company officials framed Levesque’s extension as an endorsement of the current creative leadership and his standing with talent.
