AEW to host ROH’s first-ever Survival of the Fittest on July 1 Dynamite to crown new TBS Champion

Tony Schiavone announced that a series of qualifier matches will take place over the next month to determine the field for ROH’s Survival of the Fittest, which will be held on the July 1 edition of AEW Dynamite in San Diego. The winner of that match will be crowned the new TBS Champion, marking the first time the ROH-originated bout is contested on AEW programming.

Since Tony Khan purchased ROH in 2022 he has revived the Survival of the Fittest concept that began in 2004, when Bryan Danielson won the inaugural match. The first-ever women’s Survival of the Fittest occurred at Supercard of Honor on May 15, where Athena retained the ROH Women’s Championship over Maya World, Billie Starkz, Yuka Sakazaki, Trish Adora, and Zayda Steel; Willow Nightingale was forced to vacate the title days before Double or Nothing with a shoulder injury, ending the reign she began on the final Dynamite of 2025 after defeating Mercedes Mone.
