Jay’s AEW status had been uncertain after months off television; she resurfaced on the May 2 Collision episode, losing to Nightingale in a TBS Championship match. TayJay were last seen together on the November 19 Collision when they fell to Marina Shafir and Megan Bayne in a Women’s Tag Team title quarterfinal, with Melo wrestling her most recent match the following week against Thekla; reports in December indicated Jay’s contract was expected to expire this spring, a point she later addressed on a livestream.
