Booker T: “Cuts are inevitable,” but here’s how he readies talent to avoid release
Booker T acknowledged that WWE releases are “inevitable,” framing roster turnover as a reality of the wrestling business while discussing how he prepares talent to escape that fate. The Hall of Famer emphasized that understanding the industry’s unpredictability is the first step for any performer hoping to maintain a long-term career.
To lower the risk of being cut, Booker T focuses on developing in-ring fundamentals, promo work, character depth, and a professional mindset that makes talent indispensable to promotions. His approach stresses versatility, relentless improvement, and building a reputation for reliability as key defenses against roster purges.

WWE Reportedly Scrapped Short LA Knight Program With Gunther in Favor of a Cody Rhodes Push
According to Bodyslam.net, WWE originally planned a short post‑WrestleMania program pitting LA Knight against Gunther, but those plans were reportedly altered so Knight would pursue Cody Rhodes and the Undisputed WWE Championship. There is currently no public word on WWE’s creative direction for Knight following the change.
Knight’s most recent televised appearance was WrestleMania Night One, teaming with The Usos against The Vision and IShowSpeed, after he addressed concerns over a bursa flare‑up that he said would not sideline him. Meanwhile, Gunther — fresh off his program with Seth Rollins — has set his sights on the WWE Championship, attacking Cody Rhodes on the May 1 SmackDown and putting him in a sleeper hold before releasing him and signaling his title intentions.

Tony Schiavone Surprised by Malakai Black’s WWE Release, Praises Nigel McGuinness
AEW commentator Tony Schiavone said he was surprised by Malakai Black’s post‑WrestleMania WWE release while speaking on his What Happened When podcast, noting that as a friend he hadn’t heard anything from Black that would have indicated the move was coming. Schiavone suggested Black himself may have been caught off guard, as he hadn’t been told by Black or those around him to expect a release.
Schiavone also addressed the fallout from his recent comments calling Nigel McGuinness the best color analyst he’s worked with, defending the praise by saying McGuinness is the most prepared partner he’s had in a two‑man booth and that AEW is fortunate to have him. He contrasted those remarks against comparisons to other legendary teams and reiterated his admiration for Nigel’s preparation and work ethic.
