Callum Newman Calls Out Will Ospreay After Post-Match Angle at NJPW Wrestling Dontaku
Closing out NJPW Wrestling Dontaku night two on May 4, Callum Newman put the IWGP Heavyweight Championship on the line against Shingo Takagi, with the pre-match video package highlighting Takagi and his wife, STARDOM star Natsupoi. The bout served as Newman’s first title defense and set the stage for a tense post-match sequence.
After the match a post-match angle unfolded when Will Ospreay initially refused to participate in an attack, prompting Newman to label him a “death rider” as tensions flared between the group and Takagi. The confrontation adds a new wrinkle to the ongoing storyline heading out of Dontaku.

United Empire — Will Ospreay, HENARE and Great-O-Khan — defeated Hirooki Goto, YOSHI-HASHI and Oleg Boltin in the semi-main event of NJPW Wrestling Dontaku 2026 to win the NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Championship. The victory hands the titles to the faction and adds another high-profile win to Ospreay’s resume.
The finish came after United Empire wore down YOSHI-HASHI with a relentless triple-team sequence, allowing Will Ospreay to score the decisive pin and secure the new reign for his group. Fans at Wrestling Dontaku were left buzzing as United Empire celebrate their latest championship success.
