CM Punk’s TV absence tied to schedule and creative shifts after roster moves
CM Punk has not appeared on WWE television since the April 20 Raw after WrestleMania, and False Finish reports his absence is a result of a schedule change and awaiting new creative. Sources say the shift came after WWE moved Gunther to SmackDown and brought Jacob Fatu to Raw to set up a program with Roman Reigns, which altered Punk’s planned direction.
Separately, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer previously detailed alternate plans for Punk’s WrestleMania 42 main event with Reigns, noting WWE at one point considered Punk winning and dropping the title at Backlash to protect both men. Meltzer also awarded the Punk vs. Reigns match a five-star rating — Punk’s fourth and Reigns’ first.
