Donovan Dijak Reflects on 2019 Kenny Omega Feud, Says Coaches Backed Him
Donovan Dijak revisited his 2019 online spat with Kenny Omega in an appearance on Fightful’s In The Weeds podcast, saying a handful of Performance Center coaches told him they liked that he “stuck up for us” after Omega appeared to dismiss NXT talent in favor of AEW. Dijak acknowledged the comments were likely part of Omega’s character work, said he hasn’t spoken to Omega since and remains on record calling Omega “one of the best wrestlers in the world.”
Dijak framed his reaction as defending the NXT roster and noted the irony that many current AEW stars are former NXT talents; he also pointed to the 2019 launch of AEW Dynamite and its Wednesday-night clash with NXT as part of the volatile moment. Released by WWE in 2024 after seven years, Dijak has since been active on the indie scene, including appearances for MLW, CMLL and WXM.
