Eric Bugenhagen (Rick Boogs) Open to Wrestling Return While Starring on American Gladiators

Published

on

Nearly three years after his last match, Eric Bugenhagen — better known to WWE fans as Rick Boogs — said he’s open to an in-ring return if the right opportunity presents itself. Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Bugenhagen explained he intentionally stepped away after his 2023 WWE release, turning down indie dates and conventions while he proved he could thrive outside wrestling; now, admitting some pride and ego played a part, he’s softened and said “pro wrestling is fun” again.

Bugenhagen, remembered as Shinsuke Nakamura’s guitar-playing hype man, said he clashed with creative after Paul “Triple H” Levesque’s takeover because his over-the-top character didn’t fit that vision, but he particularly enjoyed tag team work and credits Performance Center promo training for helping him land a role on Amazon Prime’s American Gladiators. The show — hosted by The Miz and featuring Wardlow, Kamille, Jessie Godderz and J-Rod among the cast — is his current focus, and Bugenhagen does not expect a wrestling return before the end of 2026, though he left the door open for the right return down the line.

WWE Reportedly Scrapped Short LA Knight Program With Gunther in Favor of a Cody Rhodes Push

Published

on

According to Bodyslam.net, WWE originally planned a short post‑WrestleMania program pitting LA Knight against Gunther, but those plans were reportedly altered so Knight would pursue Cody Rhodes and the Undisputed WWE Championship. There is currently no public word on WWE’s creative direction for Knight following the change.

Knight’s most recent televised appearance was WrestleMania Night One, teaming with The Usos against The Vision and IShowSpeed, after he addressed concerns over a bursa flare‑up that he said would not sideline him. Meanwhile, Gunther — fresh off his program with Seth Rollins — has set his sights on the WWE Championship, attacking Cody Rhodes on the May 1 SmackDown and putting him in a sleeper hold before releasing him and signaling his title intentions.

Tony Schiavone Surprised by Malakai Black’s WWE Release, Praises Nigel McGuinness

Published

on

AEW commentator Tony Schiavone said he was surprised by Malakai Black’s post‑WrestleMania WWE release while speaking on his What Happened When podcast, noting that as a friend he hadn’t heard anything from Black that would have indicated the move was coming. Schiavone suggested Black himself may have been caught off guard, as he hadn’t been told by Black or those around him to expect a release.

Schiavone also addressed the fallout from his recent comments calling Nigel McGuinness the best color analyst he’s worked with, defending the praise by saying McGuinness is the most prepared partner he’s had in a two‑man booth and that AEW is fortunate to have him. He contrasted those remarks against comparisons to other legendary teams and reiterated his admiration for Nigel’s preparation and work ethic.
