Jay Lethal Challenges Samoa Joe and Anthony Bowens to Collision Tag Match

Published

on

At ROH Supercard of Honor, Jay Lethal stood alongside Lee Johnson and issued a challenge to Samoa Joe and Anthony Bowens, calling back to Joe’s role as his early mentor while noting Joe now mentors Bowens in AEW. Lethal asked for a Collision tag match on Saturday night in Salisbury, Maryland, putting himself and Johnson up against Joe and Bowens.

Lethal and Joe share a long history that began when Lethal, then known as Hydro in Special K, was convinced by Joe in 2004 to adopt the Jay Lethal name; they have since been both partners and rivals. Joe famously beat Lethal for the ROH Pure Championship in 2005, the two traded blows in TNA over the X Division and World Heavyweight titles, teamed unsuccessfully for tag gold, and most recently met in July 2022 when Joe retained the ROH World Television Championship at Death Before Dishonor.

Tony Khan Says He’s Tried to Be Respectful Toward WWE

Published

on

Tony Khan has noticeably dialed back public shots at WWE, choosing to largely ignore their product and concentrate on building All Elite Wrestling. While he’s previously made sharp comparisons — at one point likening WWE to the “Harvey Weinstein of pro wrestling” — Khan now adopts a far more measured tone in public comments.

Khan has credited his faith and says finding Jesus helped shape this new approach, focusing on respect while prioritizing AEW’s creative and business growth. He maintains the promotion’s energy is being spent on its own goals rather than on prolonged public feuds with WWE.

Tony Khan Denies WWE Speculation, Expresses Optimism for ROH’s TV Future

Published

on

Tony Khan pushed back against recent reporting that WWE insiders believe AEW will miss out on a Paramount TV deal after the current agreement ends in 2027, calling the characterization “could not be further from the truth” and saying he’s chosen to “turn the other cheek” amid ongoing background chatter. Speaking after ROH Supercard of Honor, Khan also praised departing WWE stars Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods while noting he couldn’t comment further due to their contracts, paid tribute to Jay Briscoe on the fourth anniversary of his ROH stewardship, and reiterated confidence in ROH’s subscription numbers and future TV opportunities as Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery move toward a merger.

Other ROH talent hits from the media scrum included Deonna Purrazzo celebrating three women’s titles and the chance to define Women’s Pure Rules wrestling, Khan entertaining ideas for a pure-focused HonorClub show, and Outrunners with Dalton Castle reveling in their Six-Man Tag title win. Red Velvet touted a Collision date with Willow Nightingale, Mark Davis welcomed challengers while reflecting on his singles rise, Athena continued to tease dissension with Diamante and Billie Starkz as she targets the Owen Hart Foundation tournament, and Khan confirmed ongoing visa issues for Mortos and Komander with the possibility of defending titles in Mexico while also praising the development of talents like Lio Rush and noting setbacks such as Persephone’s injury.
