Jeff Jarrett Criticizes John Cena Classic’s Social-Vote Format

Jarrett echoed comments similar to those of Lance Storm, warning that allowing social voting to determine a “champion” risks stripping wins and losses of meaning and undermines the suspension of disbelief that helps fans invest in wrestling storylines.

Jarrett acknowledged the business logic—greater engagement through X and TikTok polls, custom social content and potential sponsorships—but argued the format weakens the storytelling core of pro wrestling. If a title can be won without earning victories in the ring, he said, audiences lose the reason to become immersed in matches, false finishes and big moments that drive emotional payoff.
