John Cena Promises Backlash Announcement That Will “Shock the Very Foundation of WWE”
John Cena says he will deliver a “history-making” announcement at WWE Backlash in Tampa that will “shock the very foundation of WWE.” In a video posted Thursday from outside Benchmark International Arena’s Thunder Alley, Cena said the revelation will affect everyone from fans and champions to superstars and rookies and urged viewers to watch live on ESPN in the U.S. and Netflix internationally.
Cena first teased something “epic” on April 23, with the arena listing him for the May 9 PLE on May 3 and Cena confirming his appearance the following day. Backlash’s updated lineup includes Roman Reigns vs. Jacob Fatu and IYO SKY vs. Asuka, with Cena’s promise of major news now part of the event build.
