Lee McAteer Reflects After Nikki Cross and Big Damo Acquire PROGRESS Wrestling
Former PROGRESS co-owner Lee McAteer issued a statement after the promotion was acquired by Nikki Cross and Big Damo on May 26, 2026, with McAteer and fellow co-owner Martyn Best stepping away. McAteer said he was honoured to have been a custodian of PROGRESS, proud of the connection forged with fans, and pleased to pass the company to two figures he admires.
McAteer called Cross and Big Damo “British and Irish wrestling royalty” and expressed excitement for the next chapter, urging everyone to support the new owners. PROGRESS, founded in 2011 and acquired by McAteer and Best in 2022, merged with DEFY Wrestling in 2024 and will now move forward under its new leadership.
