NYSAC Ban on Blading and Crowd Brawling Had Limited Impact on AEW Double or Nothing 2026
The New York State Athletic Commission prohibited blading and crowd brawling for AEW’s Double or Nothing 2026, forcing creative adjustments to several spots and the show’s signature Stadium Stampede. AEW responded by limiting visible blood, keeping brawls out of the live crowd and relying on choreography, camera angles and controlled chaos to preserve the match’s intensity without breaking the commission’s rules.
Despite the restrictions, the event largely maintained its momentum and delivered major moments, with performers adapting their repertoires and production leaning into presentation to make up for the lost elements. While the commission’s oversight clearly toned down some of the more extreme visuals, it didn’t derail the night — it instead highlighted AEW’s ability to pivot under regulatory pressure.
