Paul Wight Reflects on Acromegaly Diagnosis and Life-Saving Surgery
Paul Wight revealed that at 19 a Wichita State doctor noticed signs of acromegaly and sent him to the Mayo Clinic, where doctors discovered a pituitary tumor and recommended surgery. Wight said his large family build masked some of the more drastic effects many patients suffer, but the surgery was presented as necessary to prevent serious health decline.
He also recalled being told he might not live past 45 without the operation, a warning that ultimately led him to undergo treatment after family urged him to act. Wight went on to a decades-long WWE career, signed with AEW in 2021 as a Dark commentator, and has been working on a physical transformation while expressing hope for an in-ring return.
