Rey Fénix Captures AAA World Cruiserweight Title at Noche de los Grandes

Rey Fénix defeated Laredo Kid in the opening match of AAA’s Noche de los Grandes on May 30, 2026 to win the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship. The two waged a closely fought contest that saw Fenix block an initial low blow only to be struck later while the referee was distracted by an exposed turnbuckle, but Fenix persevered and finished Kid with a Mexican Muscle Buster to claim the gold.

The win caps a heated weeks-long feud between the pair — Fenix scored a victory over Laredo Kid earlier this month, while Kid retained via a low blow last week — and ends Kid’s reign that began in December 2024. Fenix previously held the cruiserweight title from 2022–2023 and this marks his first singles championship since departing AEW in 2025.
