Samoa Joe to Step Away from AEW for Several Months to Film Twisted Metal Season 3
Former AEW World Champion Samoa Joe announced during the third hour of Wednesday’s Dynamite & Collision that he’s “stepping away” for a few months, telling fellow Opps members Hook, Katsuyori Shibata and Anthony Bowens, “Opportunity calls…and Hollywood’s ringing.” After a brief handshake with the group, Joe departed the segment and Hook immediately moved between Bowens and Shibata to re-establish himself as the stable’s in-ring leader.
The move is to shoot the third season of Peacock’s Twisted Metal, where Joe portrays Sweet Tooth (with Will Arnett providing the voice), and comes after a recent return from a concussion. The 47-year-old has worked just five matches in 2026, most recently losing to Will Ospreay in the Owen Hart tournament at Double or Nothing.
