Seth Rollins Credits Bobby Roode for SummerSlam 2025 Crutch Drop
Seth Rollins told ESPN’s Highlights with Omar that the now-iconic crutch drop at SummerSlam 2025 wasn’t entirely his brainchild, giving credit to veteran performer-turned-producer Bobby Roode. Rollins said the moment “wasn’t rehearsed” beyond a brief discussion and praised Roode as “one of the incredible performers in our industry” whose idea helped the spot come off smoother than expected.
The angle saw Rollins feign a knee injury at Saturday Night’s Main Event before returning to SummerSlam on crutches, dropping them mid-entrance and cashing in his Money in the Bank contract to defeat CM Punk, who had just beaten Gunther for the World title. The sequence — including a jacket handoff and briefcase exchange — produced one of the night’s most talked-about moments and ultimately secured Rollins the championship.
