Sidney Akeem Nears Ring of Honor Deal After WWE, Cirque du Soleil Stints
Sidney Akeem says he’s “in the midst of getting a deal done with AEW…Ring of Honor,” revealing the potential move during an appearance on the R3 Jonah and the Rewind Recap Relive podcast. Akeem, who rose through Cirque du Soleil and has worked for WWE and TNA, indicated a full-time ROH role could be the next step in his growing pro wrestling career.
Akeem has wrestled for Ring of Honor under both his real name and the Soleil persona, saying the ROH crowd’s reception to Soleil felt in some ways even stronger than his WWE debut. He first appeared on SmackDown as Reginald Thomas, Carmella’s sommelier, in December 2020 and lost his first televised match to Sasha Banks in January 2021.
