Sol Ruca Thought WWE Tryout Call Was for UFC, Later Embraced Pro Wrestling
Sol Ruca revealed she initially mistook a WWE recruit DM for a UFC tryout while working as an online personal trainer in Hawaii, but after researching and attending a 2022 Performance Center tryout she signed and quickly rose through WWE’s ranks. The 26-year-old former gymnast has won multiple titles, recently defeated Becky Lynch on Saturday Night’s Main Event and now heads into a title opportunity at Clash in Italy on May 30, 2026.
Speaking to KVAL News, Ruca said the tryout in Orlando — complete with blaring entrance music and a tight-knit staff — reignited the teamwork and competitive drive she missed after graduating, cementing her passion for pro wrestling. What began as a surprising DM turned into a fast-tracked main roster run and a marquee feud with Lynch.
