Ted Turner Remembered by Eric Bischoff, Ric Flair and William Regal

Eric Bischoff, Ric Flair and William Regal led a wave of tributes following the death of media and wrestling pioneer Ted Turner at 87. Turner, who founded CNN and brought pro wrestling to television in 1970s Atlanta, later launched World Championship Wrestling (WCW), the promotion that would face WWE in the Monday Night Wars.

Bischoff tweeted, “RIP Ted. And thank you for everything,” while Regal thanked Turner for bringing him to the U.S., providing for his family and helping secure green cards, and Flair praised Turner’s risk-taking, his creation of cable-era opportunities and the personal moments they shared. Bischoff rose from announcer to WCW president in the 1990s and Flair was a perennial top star who helped carry the company through multiple eras.
