Will Ospreay on AEW-NJPW relationship ahead of Wrestling Dontaku 2026
Will Ospreay told NJPW1972.com he’s looking forward to returning to New Japan while addressing the evolving relationship between AEW and NJPW, saying the situation is “a difficult one” given the number of stars who have moved between the companies. Ospreay praised NJPW’s ability to build new top stars and pointed to Wrestle Kingdom moments for Kazuchika Okada, Konosuke Takeshita and Andrade as examples of how the AEW partnership has created major opportunities and storyline momentum ahead of Forbidden Door.
Ospreay also suggested AEW could send more talent on longer-term tours or quasi-excursions to New Japan to help wrestlers develop, noting AEW’s large roster creates room for cross-promotional growth — and hinted the exchange could work both ways. Ospreay will team with Great-O-Khan and HENARE at Wrestling Dontaku 2026 to face Tatsuya Matsumoto, YOSHI-HASHI and Hirooki Goto.
