Vince Russo: JCW Has “Comedy Gold” While WWE and AEW Miss the Mark
Vince Russo says Juggalo Championship Wrestling (JCW) has “comedy gold” and criticized the comedic work coming out of WWE and AEW as corny, arguing many on the writing teams are wrestlers rather than trained comedy writers. Russo pointed to bits like the gingerbread man and Danhausen’s clones as examples of wrestling comedy that falls flat and said his sitcom influences—from The Honeymooners to Seinfeld—shape his approach to character-driven, dialogue-based humor.
Russo made the remarks to Justin Barrasso ahead of a new episode of JCW Lunacy, which will stream on YouTube Thursday at 8 p.m. ET (one hour later than usual). JCW has TV tapings scheduled for May 21 at The King of Clubs in Columbus, May 22 at Harpo’s in Detroit, May 23 at The Vault in Saginaw and May 24 at The Grool Hall in Lansing.
