Chris King is sharing his thoughts and takeaways from this weekend’s WWE Saturday Night Main Event from Fort Wayne, Indiana!

What matches will have the most impact as we look forward to Clash in Italy?

• Intercontinental Champion Becky Lynch vs. Sol Ruca (non-Title Match)
• Penta (c) vs. Ethan Page (Men’s Intercontinental Championship)
• The Vision (c) vs. Street Profits (Men’s Tag Team Championships)
• Rhea Ripley, Charlotte Flair, and Alexa Bliss vs. Jade Cargill, B-Fab, and Michin
• Brie Bella and Paige (c) vs. Irresistible Forces (Women’s Tag Team Championships)

Women’s WWE Champion Rhea Ripley, Charlotte Flair, and Alexa Bliss vs. Jade Cargill, B-Fab, and Michin

I mean no disrespect by this, but why wasn’t Fatal Influence booked for this match? Jade Cargill was a boring champion, and she doesn’t have any personality. I really hope WWE hasn’t pumped the brakes on the NXT faction after a few dominant weeks on SmackDown.

It’s still weird to cheer for Charlotte Flair as a full babyface after being such a pompous and arrogant heel for so many years. She has found her ally in Alexa Bliss, and the two make a well-oiled machine. I’m a little disappointed that Rhea Ripley got pinned clean, which will set up Jade/Ripley II at Clash in Italy.

Intercontinental Champion Becky Lynch vs. Sol Ruca – Non-Title Match

This is exactly how this match should have gone, as the arrogant women’s Intercontinental Champion blasted her challenger right before the bell rang. Rather than allowing Sol Ruca to outwrestle her, Becky took the easy disqualification by pushing the referee in her place of Sol Snatcher. Lynch has been utilizing Jessica Carr to elevate her heel status at every turn, and this was no different.

It was announced that Ruca will get her first opportunity at the Women’s Intercontinental Championship at Clash in Italy, and I know it’s going to be a great match. I think she will give Lynch a run for her money, and the champion will cheat to retain her precious title. At SummerSlam, Ruca will finally dethrone Lynch on the biggest stage possible and become the new intercontinental champion.

Penta (c) vs. Ethan Page – WWE Intercontinental Championship

For a championship match on the glorified house show event, I was quite impressed with how much time they allowed both superstars to wrestle. Penta kept the pace with some fast-paced offense while ‘All Ego’ used a more methodical approach to the champion.

I was very surprised that Page lost clean here, as I felt like WWE might have him win the championship in a shock. Page proved why he’s one of the most talented and strategic superstars on Monday Night Raw with a fantastic performance tonight. I fully expect WWE to book a fatal four-way match for Clash in Italy where Penta will defend against Rusev, JeVon Evans, and Page. All Ego can win the title and protect Penta in the process without having to pin the champion to win the title.

Brie Bella and Paige (c) vs. Irresistible Forces (Lash Legend & Nia Jax) – Women’s WWE Tag Team Championship

I really enjoy Paige and Brie Bella together as a tag team , but I am anxiously awaiting for Nikki Bella’s return from injury. I just know that once Nikki is well, they are going to kick Paige out, and then we could have an interesting tag team match at SummerSlam where AJ Lee/Paige battle The Bella Twins for the women’s tag team championships.

The Vision (Logan Paul & Austin Theory, c) vs. Street Profits (Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins) – Men’s World Tag Team Championship

I have missed The Street Profits so much and their infectious, high-energy entrance. The Vision came out next to defend their tag team championships against their rivals. Both teams put together a stellar performance in the main event. The heels isolated Montez Ford for a long time, and Logan Paul pulled Angelo Dawkins at the precise moment to prevent the hot tag, which was brilliant.

The Street Profits dodged a run-in by Bron Breakker and were seconds away from winning the titles, but Paul Heyman placed Theory’s foot on the rope. ‘The Maverick’ used his brass knuckles to knock out Ford, and it allowed the heels to retain their titles. I really thought a huge heel turn was about to take place, but Breakker just speared the daylights out of The Street Profits to end the show.

Maybe Seth Rollins was right after all? Maybe they need to join up with ‘The Visionary’ to take down The Vision once and for all? If Rollins were down at ringside, The Street Profits might be world tag team champions. This feels like the startof Rollins & The Street Profits vs. The Vision at Clash in Italy.
