AEW, Ryan Nemeth Dispute Arbitration Venue and Applicable Law
AEW and Ryan Nemeth are now in a legal tug-of-war over where and under which state’s laws an agreed-to arbitration should proceed. Nemeth originally sued Tony Khan, AEW and CM Punk on February 21, 2025, alleging assault and professional retaliation related to the backstage fallout after All Out 2022; he voluntarily dismissed that suit in April after both sides agreed to private arbitration, but the parties now disagree on the proper forum.
According to court filings obtained by POST Wrestling, AEW says Nemeth filed an arbitration demand with JAMS in Orange County, California and added claims under the California Labor Code. On June 5, AEW and Khan petitioned the court to compel arbitration at the JAMS office nearest Duval County, Florida with Florida law applying, and on June 9 they moved to seal Nemeth’s independent contractor agreements from 2021–2023, calling the contracts confidential and proprietary.
