AJ Styles: WWE Unlikely to Abandon PG Era Despite Place for Blood
AJ Styles says he doesn’t expect WWE to abandon its TV-PG era, a status the company adopted in 2008 as part of a broader shift toward family-friendly programming that drew criticism from some fans. While the move softened on-screen violence and mature content, Styles acknowledges there are fans and moments that still call for more hard-hitting, bloody matches.
Speaking on The Phenomenally Retro Podcast, Styles was asked whether WWE will ever return to more violent matches and segments. He noted that while “there’s a place for blood in wrestling,” he doesn’t see WWE moving away from its PG rating anytime soon.
