Amazon/MGM Reportedly Uninterested in Selling Lucha Underground Library
A recent Fightful Select report indicates Amazon and MGM — which hold a controlling interest in Lucha Underground — are not looking to sell the promotion’s archival library. A social media teaser and updated website copy stirred speculation about a possible return and live events, but sources say the buzz was tied to plans to launch a YouTube channel with Lucha Underground content rather than a sale or outside acquisition.
Fightful’s report also notes an AEW-linked source floated the possibility of WWE involvement in the teasers, though that has not been confirmed. While there have been past inquiries about purchasing the library, Amazon/MGM appear content to retain the rights and leverage the catalog for upcoming digital programming.
