Andrew’s MLW Fusion Results & Match Ratings: 6.13.2026

MLW Fusion has been a very easy to consume hour-ish of solid wrestling, interesting stories and mostly known names. As I’ve said in the first two articles, I’m hoping to see more developments from the lesser known talent, with less reliance on the former WWE names. But for now, it’s easy to get back into the product and have something to cheer or boo for. Also…I need more Contra in my life.

Hopefully we get to see some more of the classic Hackers style terrorism and gang warfare. But let’s not bury the lead, Matt Riddle versus Killer Kross…is time up for the stoned bro?

Ratings:

• MLW Middleweight Championship: Alan Angels vs KUSHIDA (c): Kushida retains via Armbar – ** 1/2

Results:

MLW Middleweight Championship: Alan Angels vs KUSHIDA (c) w/Okumura

Kushida comes out with the Contra flag and Okumura in tow. Contra Kushida comes out with more of a Tajiri look. 

KUSHIDA is very measured looking for an opening early, this deliberate Taijri martial arts look is definitely different, even being barefoot. Angels does grab an Arm Wringer, Kushida tries to twist and Monkey Flip his way out of it, but Angels holds on. They then trade Arm Wringers like imbeciles until Angels eventually gets the Twist and Whip down. Kushida then gets thrown into the ropes, eats a Dropkick for a near fall. Kushida grabs the rope to stop the momentum, hits an opportunistic shoulder, but Angels tries to turn things around and head to the top, but Kushida just shoves him to the floor. Kushi distracts the referee as Okumura lays into Angels.

Kushida goes out there just to make a point, a bit of face kicking, then he tries the Hoverboard Lock on the floor but Angels luckily runs to the ring. As Angels lside in and struggles to get back up, Kushida is faster, kicks the arm and starts focusing on his Hoverboard target. Stomps, Two Slingshot Stomps, and he tries the third, Angels tries to move but the Mario Goomba stomp keeps Angels eating offense. Angels tries to put the brakes on the Whip but eats a Hip Attack anyway, then Angels gets the foot up, and Kushida aims for the left arm some more. Kushida eats a few of the Chops from Angels, seems like he’s having fun and the Hip Toss Cartwheel Dropkick lands for Kushida. He’s stoic, calculated, and a very different Kushida.

Angels does finally catch a kick, Step Over Rolling Heel Kick, Smash in the corner, then Shoulder Block, tries the Slingshot Sunset, but slips a bit. Angels gets a bit of a comeback spot, but it is sloppy, he hits a Splash for only two. Angel’s wants Angel’s Wings, but Kushida kicks the arm, rakes the eyes, Handspring Back Elbow misses, Kushida tries to grab the ref, tries to get disqualified with an obvious Low Blow but Angels avoids, hits the Halo Kick, then Kushida shoves the referee into the Angels, Enzuigiri, into a takedown and Kushida locks in the Armbar! Angels taps, so Kushida locks an Armbar on the other arm.

Chicago Street Fight Fall Count Anywhere: Matthew Justice vs Josh Bishop

Ahh we get a double dose of Josh Bishop this week.

Justice walks out with a trash can and chucks it at Bishop, and it sounds like his theme is a very distorted cover of Walk by Pantera…that’s RVD’s theme, get your own gimmick. A little back and forth early, Chops from Justice, but Bishop Blackhole Slams Justice into the standing up trash can and gets a two count. They spill to the outside, and Bishop Lawn Darts Justice into the ring post. Bishop grabs a table from under the ring and props it against the guardrail. As Bishop turns around, Justice is charging at him and they crash into the table but the table doesn’t break. Justice is cut open after the Lawn Dart. A sloppy jump into the audience to follow Bishop, but it’s a brawl, so ugly is okay. Justice slams Bishop into the merch table, and that actually breaks. Justice finds another table, hits Bishop with it and then sets up two tables. Bishop fights back and sets up another table, but eats a chairshot to the dome.

Bishop is rocked and lays back onto the tables, Justice heads to the Don Gato balcony…and Don Gato offers him tequila before the jump, swig taken and Justice goes through the one table but MISSES BISHOP! The balcony railing wobbled and Justice crashed and burned. Justice is still moving, clocks Bishop with a few chairs, looks like he’s enjoying nearly dying…Exit 187 Crucifix Powerbomb from the second level through a table. Bishop wins!

MLW World Heavyweight Championship: Killer Kross (c) w/Scarlett Bordeaux vs Matt Riddle

Double Knuckle start, but Riddle tries to shoot the half and switch into trying to take the back, but Kross counters it into a pinning attempt and Riddle breaks away. Riddle looks annoyed and starts talking crap to the fans. Riddle is used to wrestling circles around people, so getting shrugged off and mocked by the crowd is a little different for the Rude Dude. Kross is laying back as Riddle has a conniption fit, but Riddle slides through the tie up and tries a Rear Naked Choke with the Body Scissors but Kross gets his foot on the ropes. Kross turns an Arm Drag into his own Choke as Riddle runs to the ropes. Riddle stays frustrated at fans, Kross, and just generally not being in full control.

Riddle palms Kross into the corner, Forearm just pisses off Kross and Kross lights up Riddle and lays him out with a Big Boot. Kross tries to grab Riddle, but Riddle runs. Kross catches him and peppers in the forearms. Kross brings Riddle back in, wants a Powerbomb, but Riddle powders. Then Kross tries to chase Riddle, but Riddle just lays in fists and catches Kross with 3 Bro-tons and starts choking Kross on the middle rope. PK sends Kross reeling towards Scarlett as Riddle eats up the crowd hatred, lands a few kicks, goes for a Hip Attack but misses! Kross wants the Doomsday Saito but Riddle blocks! Fisherman Suplex Hold from Riddle, only two! Riddle multiple Forearms, Exploder Suplex and Bro-ton for another two count. Riddle threatens Scarlett from in the ring, but the short delay allows Kross some recovery time, they throw hands until Riddle turns it into a  Flying Armbar! Kross fights it off, but Riddle transitions to a Double Wristlock, but Kross counters with the Northern Lights Suplex! Lariat and Back Elbow from Kross! Riddle ducks a Lariat and connects with a Cutter!

Both are selling, Riddle tries the Floating Bro, but misses, Lariat Combo from Kross, Spicolli Driver for two! Riddle throws a Lariat and Kross ducks it for the Cutter! Kross keeps using similar moves to Riddle for a statement. Riddle grabs Kross into a quick Prawn Hold, but only two. Stacked Powerbomb into a Final Flash from Riddle, only two! Floating Bro connects! Kross kicks out and immediately into the Sleeper Hold! Riddle barely gets the ropes and Kross is incensed. Doomsday Saito! Kross Jacket attempt but Riddle stands up and drops back for the pinfall, only a two. Riddle is pandering to the crowd, Kross revives and locks in the Kross Jacket again but Hammerstone attacks even though he was ejected.

Kross and Hammer have words before throwing fists, Hammer levels Kross. Riddle tries a Low Blow but Hammer blocks it and rails Riddle out of the ring. Kross Lariats Hammer out of the ring, and then Hammer and Riddle brawl as we go to a Cesar Duran video.

Overall Score: 6.75/10

This was still a decent show and an easy roughly one hour watch, but Kushida’s match was more to show off his new heel persona than really be a great match. And the Justice versus Bishop match…eh, it was bootleg bingo hall stunts, the Balcony Dive missing was just hilariously stupid and then Bishop kinda just winning somewhat out of nowhere because they set up like 9 tables throughout the match. It could’ve been better if there was less time playing with tables or walking up steps for a botched spot, and more attention paid to pacing.

The main event had a little too much stalling to play to the crowd and the ending sequence took too long to happen. Riddle just sitting there for 8 seconds after Kross kicked out, just waiting for the Kross Jacket was dumb looking. Then to give us a No Contest finish…that just sucks. As for the match itself, it was okay, but if they have another match, I need to see more action and less powdering and reacting to the crowd. Riddle being an imbecile ate up at least 3 minutes of the match.

I will say I’m glad we got a proper Contra situation at the end. Eliminating Cesar Duran and his familia, that makes you wonder if Cesar is gone gone, or if it’s just a story element to reestablish Contra as a real threat for new viewers. Even though it was the worst episode of the Fusion return, it still wasn’t bad. Left plenty of questions for next week.
