Ariel Helwani Calls WWE Product “Soulless” Under TKO, Criticizes WrestleMania Booking
MMA analyst and long-time pro wrestling fan Ariel Helwani told the 83 Weeks podcast that he finds the current WWE product “soulless” under TKO ownership, singling out WrestleMania and John Cena’s retirement tour as low points. Helwani said he “really did not like WrestleMania” and could spend “30 minutes” on how poor he thought Cena’s retirement match was, also questioning the current direction of stars like Gunther.
Helwani added that the company peaked creatively with the Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns match at WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia, and that storylines and booking have declined since then. The comments, made on the latest episode of 83 Weeks, reflect his broader disappointment with WWE’s post-2024 direction under new leadership.
