Chad Gable Issues Public Apology to Rey Fenix on SmackDown
On the June 5 edition of WWE SmackDown, Chad Gable appeared backstage with SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis earlier in the show, then interrupted an in-ring segment featuring Rey Fenix, Nathan Frazer and Axiom to ask for a moment with Fenix. Gable used the opportunity to apologize for his WrestleMania 41 bit in which he performed in a masked, comedic role that some viewed as making light of lucha libre.
Speaking directly to Fenix, Gable expressed respect for the tradition and said he regretted any offense his actions caused, emphasizing he did not intend to mock the art form. The brief apology diffused the moment and left the door open for a more respectful rivalry between the two competitors moving forward.
