Eddie Andelman, Creator of WWE King of the Ring, Dies at 89
Eddie Andelman, a Massachusetts Broadcasters Hall of Famer and longtime Boston radio personality, has died at the age of 89, his sons announced. Andelman launched the influential live and interactive sports program “Sports Huddle” on WEEI in 1969 and remained a prominent voice in regional broadcasting for decades.
In the wrestling world, Andelman is credited with originating WWE’s King of the Ring concept, a legacy that helped shape a longstanding pay-per-view and tournament tradition in professional wrestling. His contributions to both sports media and wrestling promotions are being remembered by colleagues and fans alike.
