First Competitors Revealed for AEW Survival of the Fittest Qualifiers

AEW has announced the first names set to compete in qualifying matches for Survival of the Fittest: Hikaru Shida, Kris Statlander, Mina Shirakawa, Harley Cameron, Zayda Steele and Queen Aminata. The winners will advance to the multi-person Survival of the Fittest elimination match for the vacant TBS Championship on the July 1 edition of Dynamite in San Diego.

The announced field continues ongoing storylines — Shida and Statlander recently met in a Lights Out Street Fight that Statlander won, while Shirakawa and Cameron were involved in the weeks surrounding Shida’s betrayal of Statlander at Double or Nothing. The TBS title was vacated when Willow Nightingale was forced to relinquish the championship due to injury; Nightingale was also removed from the women’s Owen Hart Foundation tournament, with Mercedes Mone taking her spot and advancing to the semifinals after defeating Alex Windsor.
