Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson Recalls 2015 Meeting With Triple H, Says Strongman Career Kept Him From WWE
Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson told Ross Tucker he flew to WWE’s Tampa office in 2015 to meet Paul “Triple H” Levesque and other company officials about a potential wrestling career, but the discussions never progressed. Björnsson said WWE showed interest, but “they saw that my mind was more into Strongman,” and he ultimately did not make the jump to professional wrestling.
A 2018 World’s Strongest Man champion and known to mainstream audiences as Game of Thrones’ “The Mountain,” Björnsson’s near seven-foot frame and on-screen presence would have made him a natural fit for WWE’s roster. His commitment to elite strongman competition and related pursuits kept him focused outside of pro wrestling, despite the early talks with the company.
