Janel Grant Denies Role in Anonymous Emails That Sparked WWE Board Probe

Janel Grant posted an Instagram statement denying any involvement in a series of anonymous emails sent to the WWE Board of Directors in April 2022 that alleged misconduct by Vince McMahon and former executive John Laurinaitis and prompted a board investigation first reported by the Wall Street Journal in June 2022. Grant said she did not send the emails, rejected claims about homelessness and drug addiction, and wrote, “There is no person who knew me in life pre-dating 2019 who could write this,” calling the messages a damaging “storyline.”

Grant described reading the emails as a “sledgehammer to my mental health,” raised concerns that the messages implied possible revenge porn or covert filming, and included screenshots and excerpts of the anonymous messages in her post. She also referenced public documents showing a $20,098,000 reimbursement in legal costs tied to the special committee’s investigation on March 19, 2023.
