Layla Praises Today’s WWE Women, Names Chelsea Green a Throwback to the Divas Era

Former WWE star Layla El told Denise Salcedo she’s impressed by the current generation of women’s wrestling, singling out Chelsea Green as someone who “reminds me of the Diva Era.” Although she doesn’t actively follow WWE full time, Layla praised the star power of performers like Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Naomi and Rhea Ripley, applauding their willingness to entertain and their standout athleticism.

El said she’s happy to see women getting longer match times, main-event opportunities and more serious treatment than during her run, which began after winning the 2006 Diva Search and concluded with her 2015 retirement after nine years with WWE. She called herself a supporter of the division’s progress and said she’s excited to watch women’s wrestling continue to grow.
