Lexis King: BirthRight Works Because Fans Hate Nepotism
A few months ago WWE NXT introduced BirthRight, a heel faction built around second‑generation stars — Lexis King (son of Brian Pillman), Charlie Dempsey (son of William Regal), Uriah Connors (son of Fit Finlay), Arianna Grace (daughter of Santino Marella) and Channing Stacks. NXT Speed Champion Lexis King told Busted Open After Dark that the group’s lineage is deliberate: “Everyone knows who you are… Why are we not leaning into that?” He called that known heritage a “powder keg,” saying fans’ dislike of nepotism gave the faction instant heat.
King also laid out the pros and cons of being a legacy performer, admitting nepotism can open doors but won’t keep you there. “It opened the door, and what did we do when we got through the door? We started working harder than anybody in the room,” he said, noting the higher expectations and vowing to keep defending his title and proving he belongs on his own merits.
