Mark Briscoe Earns AEW Title Shot After Team Briscoe Wins “Death’s Door” Cage Match at Forbidden Door

Team Briscoe walked out of AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door victorious in the brutal 12-man “Death’s Door” steel cage match, earning Mark Briscoe a shot at AEW World Champion MJF. The finish saw Briscoe hit a Jay Driller on Jake Doyle for the pin after a chaotic sequence in which Andrade, initially asked to take a Dynamite Diamond ring shot on Briscoe, instead pushed Briscoe away, struck MJF and revealed a “F*ck MJF F*ck Don” shirt — effectively turning on MJF and positioning himself as another challenger; Kevin Knight is also reportedly owed a future title opportunity after aligning with Team MJF for the match.

AEW debuted a new rounded cage with a truss top for the bout, giving the match a different visual and plenty of room for dangerous spots. The violent, bloody encounter featured everything from an NES controller used as a weapon and Darby Allin being slammed onto tacks to Lio Rush’s surprise appearance from a hockey bag, Takeshita and Strong table spots, and high-risk moments atop the new structure that culminated in multiple wrestlers being taken through tables and stretchered out.
