Mercedes Moné Addresses Six-Month AEW Absence, Returns to Owen Hart Foundation Tournament

Mercedes Moné returned to AEW on the June 3 edition of Dynamite, defeating Alex Windsor in a women’s Owen Hart Foundation quarterfinal after a nearly six-month absence that followed her loss of the TBS Title to Willow Nightingale at Worlds End 2025. In a new edition of Moné Mag she pushed back on speculation about her time away, saying it was a personal break to relax after 16 years on the road and denying rumors of pregnancy, injury or contract disputes — asking simply to be allowed to “enjoy my vacation in peace.”

Moné also appeared on AEW Collision, attacking Persephone after Persephone’s loss to Hazuki, setting up a semifinal showdown with Hazuki in the Owen Hart tournament; commentary noted Persephone had defeated Moné for the CMLL World Women’s Title at Arena Mexico on March 6. Moné stressed she wasn’t out for medical or contractual reasons, but was “simply waiting for the right time” to return to AEW competition.
