Mistico Helps Announce Mexico’s 26-Man World Cup Squad, Reveals Mateo Chavez
Mistico joined a star-studded announcement video to reveal Mexico’s official 26-man squad for the 2026 World Cup, unveiling fullback Mateo Chavez as part of the lineup. The announcement — which also featured celebrities like boxer Canelo Alvarez — comes ahead of Mexico’s Group A opener against South Africa on June 11, with South Korea and the Czech Republic rounding out the group.
The appearance comes while Mistico is sidelined with a knee injury that has kept him out since mid-May, though he’s aiming for a CMLL return later this week. Operating under a dual CMLL/AEW contract and wrestling occasionally for NJPW (where he and El Desperado hold the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team titles), Mistico remains a central figure as CMLL enjoys recent accolades and increased international attention.
