Mistico & Mascara Dorada Capture ROH Tag Team Titles in Mexico

Mistico and Mascara Dorada dethroned Sammy Guevara and The Beast Mortos in the main event of CMLL’s Viernes Espectacular in Mexico City, winning the ROH World Tag Team Championships after Dorada wiped out Guevara with a middle-rope shooting star press to the floor and Mistico locked in La Mistica to force Mortos to submit. The victory hands the Sky Team the gold in front of the Mexico City crowd and ends Mortos and Guevara’s 204-day reign.

The title change comes with immediate implications for AEW’s Forbidden Door in San Jose, where Mistico and Dorada are already scheduled to compete in a three-way against The Young Bucks and Shingo Takagi & Titan. Mortos had been unable to appear on AEW television due to visa issues, prompting Guevara to travel to Mexico for defenses alongside Mortos, including a recent win over El Hijo del Villano III and Villano III Jr. that later aired on ROH Global Wars.
