MJF Says This Weekend Will Be His Last American Indie Match “For An Extraordinary Long Time”
AEW Men’s World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) announced that his appearance this weekend will be his final American independent wrestling match “for an extraordinary long time.” The declaration comes as the champion tightens his focus on AEW responsibilities and higher-profile commitments that limit his availability for U.S. indie bookings.
The comment has already sparked discussion among fans and promoters about the future of MJF’s indie dates and how the champion will balance outside appearances with his AEW run. With his status at the top of AEW, many expect a significant reduction in stateside independent bookings moving forward.
