PAC Challenges Shota Umino for IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship at Forbidden Door

PAC has officially issued a challenge to Shota Umino for the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship after Umino captured the belt on June 14 at Dominion in a three-way with Drilla Moloney and Andrade El Idolo, an outing that ended with Gabe Kidd attacking Umino. In a video posted to AEW’s social channels, PAC told Umino to “fly across the Pacific and come fight for your honor” at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door on June 28 in San Jose, adding that he wants the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship “for the ride” and to “help you understand exactly who the Death Riders are.”

AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2026 is set for Sunday, June 28 at the SAP Center and will feature a stacked card, including Will Ospreay vs. Swerve Strickland in the AEW Owen Hart Foundation tournament final, Kenny Omega vs. Zack Sabre Jr., Mercedes Mone in the women’s Owen Hart Foundation final, Jon Moxley vs. Bandido, and a steel cage match pitting Team Briscoe against MJF & The Don Callis Family — with PAC’s callout to Umino potentially adding the IWGP Global title to the lineup.
