Steven Spielberg Told Brian Cage He’d Love to Attend an AEW Show
Steven Spielberg told Brian Cage he’d be interested in attending an AEW show after casting Cage in the wrestling scene for his new film Disclosure Day, which opens with Cage and Lance Archer in a televised bout. Cage told Chris Van Vliet on Insight that Spielberg — a longtime wrestling fan — talked about wanting to come to AEW when the promotion had a Los Angeles pay-per-view, but scheduling kept Spielberg on a Long Island set during the event.
Cage says Chavo Guerrero helped connect him to the project and that Spielberg watched Cage’s work before personally requesting him for the role; Cage also recommended Archer and Guerrero appears in the scene as the referee. Spielberg was reportedly impressed by Cage’s athleticism, including a moonsault, and Cage revealed more footage was shot than appeared in the final cut; Disclosure Day opened in theaters June 12 with the match serving as backdrop to a plot about a government coverup of alien life.
