Thekla to defend AEW Women’s Championship against Starlight Kid at Forbidden Door
AEW announced that Thekla will put the AEW Women’s Championship on the line against Stardom star Starlight Kid on June 28 in San Jose at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. The title tilt follows weeks of heat from Thekla, who has publicly disparaged her former promotion, taken aim at Stardom president Taro Okada and repeatedly boasted she’s “on top of the wrestling world.”
The angle heated up on Saturday’s Collision when Thekla interrupted Tony Schiavone, mocked Stardom for firing her and declared she’d given the promotion a gift by raising her profile — promising that “the blood of Stardom” would soon be on her hands. The announcement joins a stacked Forbidden Door card that includes Will Ospreay vs. Swerve Strickland in the Men’s Owen Hart final, Team MJF vs. Team Mark Briscoe in a 12-man steel cage and Kenny Omega vs. Zack Sabre Jr.
