Tiger Mask IV Says Hulk Hogan Planned a Wrestling Promotion After Leaving WWE in 2003
Tiger Mask IV has revealed that he and Hulk Hogan spoke in 2003 about plans Hogan had to start his own wrestling promotion after cutting ties with WWE. Hogan’s second WWF/E run lasted roughly a year — he returned in 2002 and was out by the summer of 2003 — and by October of that year Bollea had returned to New Japan Pro-Wrestling, during which time he discussed broader ambitions outside WWE.
According to Tiger Mask IV, Hogan expressed interest in involving New Japan talent in the proposed venture, a move that would have been notable given NJPW’s standing at the time. The plans ultimately never materialized, but the revelation offers a glimpse into Hogan’s post-WWE discussions and the cross-promotional possibilities that were being considered in 2003.
